As part of Year 9 IAG provision, all students would take part in a 1 ½ hour workshop to find out about IAG, offer an opportunity for them to meet the IAG team, discuss career options and take part in fun careers based activities. Ideally this would be delivered to groups of a maximum of 10 students at a time allowing for a 1 ½ hour session (with two staff members). (These sessions are optional but highly recommended as part of the students IAG process).
Schools have a statutory requirement to provide all of their students with careers information, advice and guidance from Year 8. As detailed in this document, this proposal focuses on Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11, however, a package for Year 8 can be requested if required. Below is a breakdown of the careers interview process for Year 10 and Year 11 students. This provides a summary of the services and links to the process maps within this document.
The IAG process will offer information and advice across all relevant education and training routes, including apprenticeships. The student will be informed of relevant local further education providers, apprenticeships, training providers and other vocational opportunities. The advice and guidance will include possible progression routes up to and including post 18 options.
